Jan 08, 2025

Keystone Cooperative, a leading Indiana-based organization in agriculture and energy, announces the retirement of Dewey Bucher, Vice President of Swine and Animal Nutrition, effective March 28, 2025.

Dewey Bucher’s remarkable career spans 37 years within the cooperative system, beginning as a swine herdsman and advancing through roles as a feed sales specialist and feed department manager before assuming his current leadership position. Bucher has been an integral part of Keystone’s evolution, having started his career with LaPorte County Co-op, later Co-Alliance, and now Keystone Cooperative.

“It is difficult to overstate Dewey’s contributions to our business,” said Kevin Still, President and CEO of Keystone Cooperative. “His dedication, vision, and leadership have been instrumental in building our swine and animal nutrition division from the ground up. Dewey’s efforts have opened doors for farm families to diversify their operations while ensuring Midwest consumers have access to nutritious and safe pork products.”

Under Bucher’s leadership, Keystone has become Indiana’s largest swine contractor, managing over 270 swine facilities and overseeing more than 2 million pigs annually.

As Bucher prepares for retirement, he leaves behind a strong foundation for future success. On April 1, 2025, Nathan Hedden will step into the role of Vice President of Swine and Animal Nutrition. Hedden brings 30 years of experience in the swine industry, encompassing wean-to-finish operations, sow farm management, and feed mill operations. He is dedicated to nurturing young talent and driving process improvement. For the past seven years, Nathan has served as the Assistant Vice President for the Swine and Animal Nutrition Division at Keystone.

“Dewey exemplifies how a successful career in the cooperative business can be built from the ground up,” said Hedden. “His unwavering work ethic and innovative mindset have not only propelled his personal growth but also inspired our team and advanced the entire business model. I’m honored to build on the foundation he established and carry his work forward.”

A retirement party is being held Friday, March 14 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST at the White County Extension Office, 12 N. 25 E. Reynolds, IN. Please RSVP at www.keystonecoop.com/retirement-bucher

Keystone Cooperative celebrates Dewey Bucher’s outstanding career and welcomes Nathan Hedden to his new leadership role, confident that the swine and animal nutrition business will continue to thrive.
